Water-methanol injection (commonly referred to as “WMI”) is an innovative and efficient way to enhance the performance and durability of powerful turbocharged petrol and diesel engines.

Why Methanol?
Methanol is an alcohol with excellent volatility and a high octane rating when used in engines. It is typically injected as a mixture of water and methanol, which effectively cools the engine and intake air while also reducing sensitivity to knocking.
In water-methanol injection, methanol not only serves these purposes but also acts as an additional energy source itself. Combined with water, methanol efficiently cools the intake air and prevents overheating in the combustion chamber.

In turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, water-methanol injection enables the use of higher boost pressure, optimizes combustion, and reduces exhaust gas temperatures.

The mixture also keeps intake valves and channels clean, which is a significant benefit, especially for modern direct injection engines.
In diesel engines, WMI is equally utilized when aiming for serious power levels. Additionally, it can improve fuel economy and reduce soot emissions.
