Carbon fiber brake pad shims

HEL Performance carbon fibre brake pad shims are installed between the brake pad backing plate and the brake caliper piston to reduce heat transfer from the pad to the caliper. They are particularly useful for track driving and other demanding applications where brake temperatures can rise significantly. Keeping the caliper cooler also helps reduce the thermal load on the caliper seals and brake fluid.

The shims are manufactured from carbon fibre and a high-temperature-resistant resin. Carbon fibre’s extremely low thermal conductivity makes it an effective heat barrier for this application, while also keeping the shims exceptionally lightweight at approximately 3.5 grams each.

HEL offers shims for a wide range of OEM and performance brake calipers, and shims that remain in good condition can also be reused when replacing the brake pads.
