Porsche Taycan Radiator Fan Repair & Upgrade Kit (up to MY2023)
A complete repair and upgrade kit for the Porsche Taycan radiator cooling fans. This package includes the revised, latest-version Porsche radiator fans as well as the updated air ducting and inner fender plastics. These upgraded components correct the well-known early-model design flaw that can lead to seized fan motors, overheating warnings, and expensive repair bills.
This kit is built from genuine Porsche components that have been redesigned around model year 2023 to improve weather protection, airflow, and drainage around the front cooling module. When installed together, they significantly reduce the risk of recurring failures.
Why the Original Fans Fail
Earlier Porsche Taycan models (pre-2023 redesign) use front-mounted radiator fans positioned low in the wheel arch area. While effective for cooling, this placement exposes the fans to road spray, mud, slush, and debris. The original air-duct and inner fender design allowed moisture and dirt to accumulate directly around the fan motor housing.
The problem is made worse by the fact that the early-production fan motors have very limited moisture sealing. Over time, contamination enters the motor, leading to corrosion, bearing resistance, and ultimately a seized motor. Once one fan stops spinning, the car may reduce power to protect the cooling system, and in many cases both fans are recommended to be replaced.
Porsche introduced an updated fan and redesigned ducting around MY2023. These parts provide better splash protection, improved sealing, and more effective water drainage – reducing the risk of repeated failures.
Common Symptoms & Fault Codes
Owners typically report the following issues when the radiator fan begins to fail:
- Cooling fan running loudly or intermittently
- Fan not spinning at low speeds or stuck completely
- Increased inverter or battery temperature warnings
- Reduced performance or “turtle mode” under load
- Overheating warnings during charging or spirited driving
- Fault codes related to radiator fan control or cooling circuit
Typical related fault codes may include (varies by model year and software): P0C73, P0C74, P0C2D, U0197, U0199 or other cooling system control faults.
In severe cases, Porsche dealers have quoted repair costs of €5,000–€7,000 for replacement of the entire fan/duct assembly when the motor has seized.
What This Kit Includes
- Revised Porsche radiator cooling fans (latest generation)
- Updated air ducting / air guide elements
- Updated inner fender / wheel arch plastics
- All required fittings for installation
Benefits of the Upgrade
- Corrects the known pre-2023 design flaw
- Significantly improved moisture and debris protection
- Prevents repeated fan motor failures and seizing
- Restores full cooling performance for battery, inverter, and radiators
- Genuine Porsche components – not aftermarket or refurbished
This upgrade is highly recommended for all Porsche Taycan models built before MY2023, especially in regions with wet climates, salted winter roads, or unpaved driving conditions.
