OBD Killer eliminates persistent fault codes when they are not needed
Modern engine control units are extremely sensitive and may store fault codes even for minor changes or sporadic issues.
A typical example is an upgraded exhaust system, which can trigger sensors even though emissions equipment and performance remain unaffected.
When the cause of the fault code is known and proven to be harmless, the OBD Killer is an excellent solution.
How does it work?
The OBD Killer is a compact electronic module that plugs into the vehicle’s OBD diagnostic port.
It monitors the ECU in real time and blocks or deletes selected codes before they are stored in memory.
This prevents unnecessary warning lights on the dashboard while still keeping diagnostics active for real faults.
The OBD Killer only controls the codes it is “taught”.
If new or unknown error codes appear, the device automatically deactivates, ensuring that genuine faults remain visible.
- The device is connected when the ECU has the codes you want to control stored in memory.
- The OBD Killer detects and saves these codes.
- As long as the device is connected, those saved codes will be managed and suppressed.
- If new codes appear, the device deactivates and allows them to show as normal.
OBD Killer key points
- Teachable: Learns the codes you choose during setup and suppresses them while connected to the OBD port.
- No changes to the car: When unplugged, everything returns to stock. The device makes no modifications to the software or systems.
- Automatic: Operates continuously while driving, monitoring ECU fault codes in real time.
- Fast: Prevents fault codes from being stored before they are logged.
- Universal: Compatible with most vehicles from model year 2008 onwards.
When is it useful?
The OBD Killer is designed to handle recurring, non-critical fault codes such as:
- Catalyst-related codes (P0420–P0434), which may appear unnecessarily after installing a higher-flow sports exhaust.
- Boost pressure codes (P0234), a common issue in certain models.
Important: Always keep emissions systems in proper working order.
OBD Killer is intended for off-road and motorsport use only, when the source of the error code is known and harmless.
We do not recommend use on public roads.
Compatibility
Compatible with most petrol, diesel, CNG, and LPG vehicles from 2008 onwards.
Some older cars are also supported if pins 6 and 14 are active in the OBD diagnostic port.
Note: A small number of ECUs do not allow fault code deletion while driving.
Note 2: In rare cases, some new vehicles have OBD port protection linked to immobilizer/alarm systems, which may trigger warnings if a device is left connected during parking. This can be tested with any code reader or OBD accessory beforehand.
Important notice
The OBD Killer does not read or display fault codes itself.
We recommend checking stored codes with a separate fault code reader during installation, and only blocking codes that are confirmed harmless to the vehicle or its emission system.
