AMSOIL Engine Oil – Break-in Oil (BRK)
AMSOIL oils and additives – lubrication is the last place to compromise.
Amsoil is a US-based lubricant manufacturer known for maintaining extremely high quality standards without the cost-cutting measures that have affected many traditional oil brands. The focus is purely on lubrication performance and engine durability.
In our own workshop projects Amsoil is often a requirement, not just a recommendation. A quality oil is the cheapest insurance you can buy for a tuned or heavily loaded engine.

What should you know about this product?
Break-In Oil is AMSOIL’s only mineral oil, and the break-in period is the only time a mineral oil proves its worth. Its higher friction compared to synthetic oils helps piston rings seat (micro-hone) faster. For this reason, the oil is formulated without friction-reducing additives.
It contains a high dose of anti-wear agents, including zinc phosphate (ZDP) at over 2000 ppm, protecting the valvetrain during the critical break-in cycle. While concentrations above 2000 ppm can potentially cause long-term grain boundary corrosion in metal, the break-in period is brief.
Break-in duration depends on the application, but for dyno runs, a cycle of about 30 minutes with light load and varying RPM is typically used. Actual power measurements should be made with the final, low-friction oil, such as Dominator Racing or Z-Rod oils, both of which are high-zinc formulations.
Break-In Oil should also be used in an oil can during engine assembly, in conjunction with AMSOIL Assembly Lube cam grease. We recommend running the Break-In Oil for a maximum of 1600 km (1000 miles), and then changing to the final engine oil and filter.
For the break-in of a rebuilt engine, when the piston rings and/or camshaft are new. High-zinc SAE 30 mineral oil.
