Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVTs) use a belt or metal chain that runs between two variable-diameter pulleys. This requires a fluid with specific friction characteristics to prevent the belt or chain from slipping. AMSOIL Synthetic CVT Fluid is designed to provide optimal performance and durability in these demanding transmissions.

What should you know about this product?

Excellent Friction Properties: In a CVT, friction between the belt/chain and the pulleys plays a significant role. The friction properties of AMSOIL Synthetic CVT Fluid are precisely tuned to ensure the belt/chain does not slip.

Superior Wear Protection: AMSOIL Synthetic CVT Fluid prevents the wear of transmission components even under severe use, guaranteeing a long service life.

Heat Resistance: The thermally stable, full-synthetic composition of AMSOIL CVT Fluid prevents thermal breakdown of the oil and the formation of “varnish.”

Wet Clutch Performance: AMSOIL Synthetic CVT Fluid offers superior wet clutch performance, reducing shudder, noise, and vibration.

Field and Laboratory Tested Superiority

A field test lasting 100,000 miles (160,000 km) was conducted on four vehicles, after which the transmissions were opened for inspection. As seen in the images of the belt and pulleys below, AMSOIL CVT Fluid provides excellent protection against wear compared to Nissan NS-2 CVT Fluid.

Lab tests showed AMSOIL CVT Fluid meets, and in some cases exceeds, the performance of Nissan NS-2 CVT oil:

• FZG Wear Test (ASTM D5182): Nissan NS-2 achieved 7 stages, while AMSOIL CVT Fluid clearly surpassed it, achieving 11 stages.
• JASO LVFA Anti-Shudder Durability Test: AMSOIL CVT Fluid lasted six times longer, which translates to reduced noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH).
