Turbosmart’s award-winning EM BOV series represents the latest innovation in blow-off valve technology. This VR29 model is specifically designed for Mercedes-Benz engines with the M177 platform. The valve replaces the original (often plastic) unit directly and plugs into the factory connector just like the OEM part. Control remains fully electronic, but now with much more precise operation and a far more robust build. Unlike many competing products, this unit completely replaces the factory valve — it’s not just a spacer or add-on.

Boost-Balance Valve Design

This valve is engineered to prevent unwanted leakage under load — boost pressure helps lock the piston closed when the system doesn’t request venting. It opens quickly and responsively when needed, but seals tightly under boost. Built from high-quality billet components.

What are the benefits of this upgrade?

Factory valves with plastic and rubber parts may work fine on a stock car, but over time or with increased boost levels, their performance may degrade — leading to issues like boost leaks. This upgraded valve handles high boost pressures in tuned setups with precision and consistency, reducing turbo lag and preventing boost flutter during shifts. And as a bonus, it enhances the sound profile — especially with the Dual Port version, which vents part of the air to atmosphere with a satisfying sound while still recirculating some of it.

Dual Port vs. Plumbback?

This valve is available in our webshop in two configurations:

• Plumbback model recirculates all vented air back into the intake system, just like the OEM valve. Quiet, stealthy operation.
• Dual-Port model vents some air to atmosphere, producing a louder “whoosh” sound. Maximum flow and a more aggressive sound profile.
