IE Cold Air Intake System for Audi B8/B8.5 S4 & B8.5 S5 3.0T

The Integrated Engineering Cold Air Intake is a performance intake system developed for Audi B8 and B8.5 S4 and B8.5 S5 models equipped with the supercharged 3.0T V6 engine. Featuring an integrated motorsport-style velocity stack and a sealed ram-air intake design, it delivers increased airflow while helping maintain stable intake temperatures during demanding driving conditions.

When paired with appropriate ECU tuning, the system can support gains of approximately 15-25 horsepower and 20-34 Nm of torque. It also sharpens throttle response while allowing the distinctive supercharger sound to become much more noticeable than with the factory intake.

Technical Information

The integrated velocity stack directs airflow smoothly from the large filter surface into the intake tube while reducing turbulence and pressure loss. A rigid aluminum intake pipe maintains its shape under high boost conditions, ensuring consistent airflow throughout the rev range.

The enclosed heat shield creates a ram-air effect by directing cool outside air into the intake while reducing exposure to hot engine bay temperatures.

Engineering

The intake system was developed using detailed 3D scans of the engine bay, grille, bumper and hood. This digital development process allows accurate clearances, factory-like fitment and efficient use of the available engine bay space.

Multi-ply silicone couplers with internal alignment stops provide a smooth transition between intake components, while factory-style mounting points allow natural engine movement without placing unnecessary stress on the intake assembly.

Sound Characteristics

The factory intake suppresses much of the engine and supercharger sound. IE’s freer-flowing design allows the characteristic supercharger whine and engine induction sound to be heard more clearly while maintaining the refined sound quality expected from a sealed intake system.

Installation

The system installs using the factory mounting locations without permanent modifications. All required intake piping, silicone couplers, heat shield and mounting hardware are included. Installation typically takes around 30 minutes using basic hand tools.

Optional Carbon Fiber Lid

An optional genuine carbon fiber lid is available separately to enhance the appearance of the engine bay. It is designed specifically for the IE intake system and installs directly onto the airbox without modification.
