The Spool steel heat shield is intended for top-mount turbo installations on B58 and S58 engines. It reduces radiant heat from the turbo and downpipe reaching the valve cover and fuel lines across the top of the engine.
A shield is an important part of a tidy top-mount build because the turbo and exhaust sit much closer to heat-sensitive parts than in the factory arrangement. Use it together with sound insulation, correct hose routing and adequate clearance.
