3.0TFSI V6 supercharged engine is used in various Audi, Porsche and VW models. While this lively engine is quite a potential powerhouse for tuners offering significant gains with reasonable mods such as intake, belt pulleys and exhaust parts, it comes with it’s flaws.
One of which is the intake air cooling, which simply doesn’t have the needed capacity for tuned engine. In this engine, the intake air is cooled via two intercooler cores inside the supercharger frame. Coolant is lead through this cores all the way to the heat exchanger which can be found behind the front bumper.
For tuned engine, the first step should always be an upgraded heat exchanger .
Unfortunately, in many cases this step has been skipped, or the kilometers and years have simply done their part leading to a more or less burned cooler cores as seen in the video below. At this state the cooling capacity is dramatically compromised, and potential coolant leaks and other fails can occur.
