HEL Performance is always looking out for potential vehicles that scream for professional upgrades. The GR Yaris, being one of the standout cars of the year, naturally drew their attention immediately. Goal was to design a capable oil cooler kit for this 3 cylinder monster – since the engine can take unbelievably high power levels with ease, oil temperatures are a problem that quickly follows.

Utilizing 3D scanning technology on the engine bay, HEL identified the optimal solution. Consequently, they crafted a custom aluminum bracket to securely mount the oil cooler on the crash bar, leveraging the OEM mounting points. Placed in the direct airflow behind the top grill, the cooler enjoys an ideal location for efficient cooling.

The core of the kit centers around the well-regarded Setrab Series 9 ProLine 10-row oil cooler, renowned for its balance between minimal pressure loss and exceptional cooling.

HEL has trusted Setrab cores in their kits for many decades. While there may be cheaper imported alternatives, none match the robustness of Setrab (imagine the frustration of a burst oil cooler!).

The kit includes preassembled HEL braided hoses and anodized aluminum fittings, featuring AN10 high-flow performance hoses that manage oil flow to and from the oil cooler. This flow is regulated by HEL Performance Billet thermostatic sandwich plate set at 92°C (197.6°F). The 92°C option strikes a perfect balance between efficient cooling and allowing the engine to warm up safely. Precise temperature control is crucial, as excessively cold oil can pose risks, thus this thermostat ensures optimal conditions.

Extensively tested in both fast road and track environments.
