Description
DOMINATOR® Coolant Boost is an additive that improves the heat transfer efficiency of coolant using a simple but highly effective mechanism.
A popular “booster” not only for engine radiators but also for liquid-cooled intercoolers found in engines from BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Alfa Romeo.
The product enhances the coolant’s ability to transfer heat, lowering fluid temperatures by up to 13.8°C. Dominator Coolant Boost contains three surfactants that improve the contact between the fluid and metal surfaces. These work in stages across different temperature ranges (competing products typically use only one surfactant). Compatible with tap water, distilled water, and all types of antifreeze. Safe for all materials used in cooling systems.
The temperature drop was tested on a full aluminum Chevy 350 small block engine, running on a dyno at 4500 rpm until temperature stabilized. With plain water, the temperature stabilized at 104.4°C; with a 50/50 glycol/water mix, it stabilized at 108.9°C. After adding Coolant Boost, the temperature dropped by 13.8°C with plain water and 4.5°C with the 50/50 glycol/water mix. Thus, Coolant Boost is most effective with pure water (for race use).
The warm-up time reduction was tested using a V8 engine at idle, measuring the time taken to reach specific temperatures (starting from 49°C to 82°C). The ambient temperature was kept at -1°C throughout the test. Initial measurements were done with a 50/50 water/glycol mix, and then compared to the same setup with Coolant Boost added. From -1°C to 49°C the time dropped from 6.3 min to 3.2 min, and from -1°C to 82°C the time dropped from 11.4 min to 5.3 min.
USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
- With glycol/water (antifreeze) mixture: use 1 oz per 1 liter – one 16 oz bottle treats 16 liters of coolant.
- For race use with pure water: use 2 oz per liter – one bottle treats 8 liters (double dose required for corrosion protection when not using glycol). Allowed on asphalt tracks. Does not provide freeze protection, so antifreeze is recommended for street use. When using pure water, change the fluid once per year. With antifreeze, follow the vehicle manufacturer’s replacement intervals.
