F* Essentials oil catch can kit, BMW S55 M2 / M3 / M4

Oil mist carried by the crankcase ventilation system is not something your intake needs more of. The F* Essentials oil catch can kit adds a collection tank to the breather line, separating oil from the crankcase gases before they return to the engine’s intake.

In a direct-injection engine, fuel does not wash over the intake valves as it does with port injection. Reducing oil mist helps keep the intake cleaner and limit oil-related carbon deposits. A catch can will not magically eliminate all carbon buildup, but collecting excess oil is a practical way to reduce deposits.

Use and maintenance

The tank connects to the engine’s breather line. Crankcase gases continue through the system while separated oil collects in the tank. Check the collected amount regularly and empty the tank as needed. Pay particular attention to condensation during cold weather and short journeys.
