The DQ400, also known as DQ400e, is a six-speed wet-clutch DSG transmission for plug-in hybrid vehicles with an integrated electric motor. Its construction makes the correct fluid, filling procedure and safe handling of the high-voltage system especially important.

The kit contains 6 litres of model-specific DSG transmission oil, the required seals and sealing washers, and the filter when it is included as a service item in the vehicle-specific procedure.

The supplied filter is normally MANN-Filter or, depending on availability and vehicle model, an equivalent quality aftermarket product. Exact kit contents vary by vehicle.

Recommended DQ400 oil-change interval

The commonly used oil-change interval for the DQ400 is approximately 60,000 kilometres. We recommend servicing it no later than this, and at approximately 40,000 kilometres in demanding use.

A DQ400e service must be performed by a professional trained to work safely with high-voltage systems. The vehicle-specific workshop procedure must always be checked before servicing.

Choose AMSOIL or a quality VAG-spec oil

AMSOIL 100% Synthetic DCT Fluid is a premium full-synthetic dual-clutch transmission oil. Its carefully controlled friction characteristics support smooth shifts, while its thermal and shear stability make it a strong choice for demanding use such as track driving.

As a more affordable option, you can choose a quality aftermarket oil meeting the required VAG specification. This option is always selected according to the transmission’s applicable OE specification and typically uses Febi or an equivalent quality brand, depending on availability.

Change DSG oil correctly

A DSG oil change is not simply a matter of draining the old oil and pouring in new fluid. That alone does not guarantee the correct oil level or a successful service.

Depending on the transmission, the procedure may require the vehicle to be level, the oil to be at a specified temperature, the transmission and selector positions to be cycled and the oil to circulate through the hydraulic passages. The final level must then be checked within the manufacturer’s specified temperature range. An incorrect oil level can cause transmission problems even when the oil itself is correct.
