On BMW N54, N55 and S55 engines, a failed serpentine belt can be pulled through the front crankshaft seal and into the oil pan. Belt debris may then reach the oil pickup, restrict lubrication and lead to an expensive repair or, in the worst case, engine damage. The VTT guard installs over the front crankshaft seal to form a physical barrier against the belt.
- Machined from a single piece of 6061-T6 billet aluminum
- Black anodized for improved corrosion resistance
- No welded mounting tabs
- Includes two extended grade 12.9 bolts and two stainless steel washers
- Manufacturer-stated 12-month warranty
This listing includes the crank seal guard only, without a Crank Bolt Capture (CBC). Installation requires removal of the crank pulley/harmonic damper, so fitting a suitable CBC at the same time may also be worth considering.
