Redback 200CPI High-Flow Catalytic Converter – Our Most Popular Cat!
High-performance catalytic converter for demanding use
The RB catalytic converter is one of our long-time favourites. This high-quality and reasonably priced catalytic converter features a 200CPI metallic core, stainless steel construction, and is also available with Euro 3/4 level E9 approval. Also available with larger 3-inch connections – see the RB 3.0″ catalytic converter.
On a tuned engine, the factory catalytic converter can quickly become a restriction in terms of exhaust flow. On the other hand, the famous “straight pipe” is not really an ideal solution either when emissions, exhaust smells and noise are taken into consideration.
The solution is a proper 200CPI high-flow catalytic converter with a durable metallic core. A catalytic converter of this type can flow almost like a straight pipe while still reducing emissions and exhaust smell. The metallic core also tolerates aggressive exhaust conditions and occasional “pops and bangs” considerably better than many standard catalytic converters.
Lambda Sensor Port Included
As a useful additional feature, this catalytic converter already includes a threaded bung for a lambda / oxygen sensor. You can use it when required or simply leave it plugged if it is not needed.
Euro Approval and Classification
Depending on your requirements, this catalytic converter can be selected either as a so-called Euro 2 race catalytic converter or with Euro 3/4 level approval.
Please note that the approval is a universal E9 type approval. It is therefore not a vehicle-specific ECE approval, which may be required for newer vehicles.
- E2 Race version
- E3/4 approved version for vehicles where this level of approval is sufficient, or for motorsport use
For road use, please see our range of vehicle-specific downpipes and exhaust systems with ECE approval, available for many different vehicle models.
Does It Actually Reduce Emissions?
For a 200CPI performance catalytic converter, the RB E3/4 version provides very good emissions reduction. The catalytic converter should be installed sufficiently far forward in the exhaust system so that it reaches its operating temperature properly. As a general rule of thumb, installation somewhere forward of the gear lever area is recommended.
