The Evolution Link Pipe Set adds a titanium link pipe assembly to the Akrapovič Slip-On system for the BMW M5. Its X-connection brings together the exhaust flow from both banks of the engine and is cast in Akrapovič’s own titanium foundry. Akrapovič reports a 72.6% weight reduction compared with the corresponding stock component.

Sound level and character change with engine speed and load. Backfires accompany downshifts, while cruising brings a rich, comfortable tone.

Manufacturer measurements

Power and torque were measured on a BMW M5 with this link pipe assembly combined with an Akrapovič Slip-On exhaust, compared with the stock exhaust. Weight figures refer to the link pipe assembly, rather than the complete Slip-On system.

Power and torque figures are the manufacturer’s maximum gains at the stated engine speeds, rather than differences between peak engine outputs. The vehicle version and configuration affect the results achieved.

Fitment and points to consider

For BMW M5 G90/G99 OPF/GPF models with the Akrapovič Slip-On Line S-BM/T/37H. This is a separately sold extension. The Slip-On exhaust and its tailpipes are not included in this product’s price. ECU remapping is mandatory to prevent potential check-engine warnings. Installation invalidates the Slip-On system’s EC/ECE approval. For closed-course competition use only. It does not meet street or highway emissions requirements.

Installation and setup

We recommend having your Akrapovič exhaust installed by an authorised Akrapovič dealer. Appropriate test equipment and software help verify correct exhaust operation, valve control and settings after installation.
