RacingLine MQB Subframe Bolt Collar Alignment Kit is a simple and effective upgrade that eliminates unwanted movement caused by the oversized factory subframe mounting holes used on Volkswagen Group MQB platform vehicles.

The precision-machined alignment collars accurately centre the front and rear subframes around the original mounting bolts. This helps maintain consistent suspension geometry, improves steering response and ensures that the subframe returns to the same position whenever it is removed and refitted.

The problem with the factory subframe mounting

On MQB platform vehicles, the subframes are attached to the body through mounting holes that are intentionally larger than the factory bolts. This gives the factory and workshop technicians some adjustment range during assembly, but it also allows the subframe to sit in slightly different positions.

Each time the subframe is removed and reinstalled, its position may change slightly. The subframe can also move under heavy braking, cornering and demanding driving conditions, gradually affecting the vehicle’s suspension geometry and wheel alignment.

This can result in:

The kit includes 16 precision-machined push-in alignment collars that fill the clearance between the original subframe bolts and the oversized mounting holes.

Installation

Installation is straightforward and typically takes approximately one hour. The collars are pressed into the existing subframe mounting holes, and no permanent modification to the subframe or vehicle body is required.

Important: The original subframe mounting bolts are torque-to-yield stretch bolts and are intended for single use only. The bolts must be replaced with new original-specification bolts whenever the subframe is removed.

After installation, a complete professional wheel alignment and suspension geometry adjustment must be carried out. The collars ensure that the subframe is correctly centred, but the final suspension alignment must still be set by a qualified technician.
