Polestar 2 electric tailgate struts – left + right pair. The package includes both sides, one left and one right electric tailgate strut, which should ideally be replaced as a pair. The struts correspond to OEM part numbers 31689669 and 31689670.

Electric tailgate struts can wear out or develop faults over time and with use. Common symptoms include the tailgate no longer opening or closing normally, slow or jerky movement, or the tailgate stopping midway. A faulty strut may also cause unusual noises, and the tailgate may start to close or open but then unexpectedly reverse direction.

Common symptoms of faulty electric tailgate struts

• Tailgate does not open or close completely
• Tailgate stops midway while opening or closing
• Tailgate moves slower than normal or operates with a jerky motion
• Tailgate starts moving but unexpectedly reverses direction
• One side appears to lift more weakly than the other
• Clicking, grinding or other unusual mechanical noises from the strut
• Electric opening mechanism can no longer lift the tailgate normally
• Tailgate needs to be assisted or operated manually

The Polestar 2 uses electric struts on both sides of the tailgate. For optimal operation, both struts should be replaced at the same time, ensuring that the left and right sides operate evenly and helping to prevent operating issues or fault codes.
