BAR-TEK gearbox tie rod kit, VAG 02M/02Q

The BAR-TEK tie-rod kit reinforces the casing of a VAG 02M or 02Q gearbox in high-torque applications. Steel support plates and a heavy-duty stud running through the casing connect the clutch-side housing to the outer housing, helping prevent the casing halves from spreading under load.

Why fit this reinforcement?

At high torque levels, movement between the gearbox casing sections can eventually crack or chip the housing. Unlike supports that act only on the outer end plate, this design transfers the load through the complete casing. It is a sensible upgrade for tuned road cars, track cars and other builds where an 02M or 02Q gearbox sees considerably more load than standard.

• Tie-rod tightening torque 8 Nm

Select the 02M or 02Q version to match the gearbox. The Polo WRC requires the 02Q version. Some clutch and flywheel combinations may require spacer plate 02M301159F, particularly certain Sachs single-mass flywheels. This is not normally an issue with BAR-TEK Tilton and RCS clutch systems.

Compatibility

The kit is intended for 02M and 02Q gearboxes used in many Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda models. Confirm the gearbox type and available space around the drivetrain before ordering.
