Option to Retain Factory Oil Cooler and Lines

The optional factory oil line adapter allows a plug-and-play installation using OEM oil cooler lines. For maximum performance, the factory cooler and lines can be replaced with an aftermarket air-to-oil cooler and AN lines. -10AN line size is recommended.

Note: Some applications, especially many BMW SUVs, use a water-to-oil heat exchanger. These setups require capping the coolant supply and return ports and installing an external air-to-oil cooler with lines. The EBW-100 adapter cannot be used without an oil cooler.

Installation Variants

Direct replacement applications: If equipped with the factory oil cooler manifold, the EBW-100 replaces it directly. In some variants, OEM lines can be retained with the optional adapter.

There are three common factory thermostat housing variants:

• Variant 1: Lines exit from the bottom and use an M8 screw. Direct bolt-on with factory lines using adapter EBW-100-98.
• Variant 2: Lines exit from the bottom but use an M6 screw inserted from the top. The M6 hole must be drilled to M8 size to retain factory lines. No modification required when using AN lines.
• Variant 3: Lines exit from the top. Factory lines cannot be used; AN lines are required.

Applications requiring additional oil cooler: Vehicles equipped with a water-to-oil heat exchanger must cap coolant ports and install an external air-to-oil cooler.

Warning: An oil cooler must always be installed. Never cap the EBW-100 inlet and outlet ports.
