Kelford camshafts, Audi EA855 EVO 2.5 TFSI DAZA/DNWA
Kelford is a New Zealand camshaft manufacturer with roots in Christchurch dating back to 1968. Its profiles range from upgrades for street-driven cars to fully built race engines. Choose the cam around the rest of the engine and its intended use, rather than simply picking the longest duration.
This selection is for the Audi EA855 EVO 2.5 TFSI DAZA/DNWA engine. Profile differences, spring recommendations and required modifications are detailed below.
Technical specifications – available profiles for this engine
Profile 273-A
Stage 1 for up to approximately 1,200 hp with a 64–72 mm turbo. Requires KVS273-BT springs. Piston-to-valve clearance must be checked, as contact is possible with factory pistons. The AVS variable exhaust-lift system is deleted, and Kelford billet blanking plates are included. Solenoid removal requires ECU calibration changes.

Profile 273-A2
Developed with IROZ Motorsport for racing engines making over 1,300 hp with a 72 mm or larger turbo. Adds mid-range and top-end pull. Requires aftermarket pistons with deeper valve pockets. Suitable with KVS273-BT springs. The AVS variable exhaust-lift system is deleted, Kelford billet blanking plates are included.

Manufacturer profile information
Profile 273-B
Top-end-focused drag profile for a DAZA making over 1400 hp with a 75–83 mm turbo. Requires KVS273-BT springs. The supplied 7 mm pin limits intake advance to 96° with stock pistons. A wider timing range requires valve-pocket machining. Always check piston-to-valve clearance. Exhaust-side AVS lift switching is removed and Kelford blanking plates are included. Removing the solenoids requires ECU calibration changes.
| Specification | Intake | Exhaust |
|---|---|---|
| Cam lift | 6.89mm | 6.42mm |
| Rocker ratio | 1.67 | 1.79 |
| Net valve lift | 11.50mm | 11.50mm |
| Advertised duration @ 0.10mm | 286° | 292° |
| Duration @ 1.00mm valve lift | 242° | 252° |
| Timing IVO @ 1.00mm valve lift | 7 ATDC | – |
| Timing IVC @ 1.00mm valve lift | 69 ABDC | – |
| Timing EVO @ 1.00mm valve lift | – | 90 BBDC |
| Timing EVC @ 1.00mm valve lift | – | 18 BTDC |

Manufacturer profile information
Profile 273-EZ
A drop-in profile for approximately 400–800 hp DAZA engines with a hybrid turbo or a turbo up to 64 mm. KVS273-BT springs are recommended above the factory rev limit. The AVS variable exhaust-lift system is deleted, Kelford billet blanking plates are included. Solenoid removal requires ECU calibration changes.
| Specification | Intake | Exhaust |
|---|---|---|
| Cam lift | 6.44mm | 5.73mm |
| Rocker ratio | 1.67 | 1.79 |
| Net valve lift | 10.75mm | 10.25mm |
| Advertised duration @ 0.10mm | 258° | 260° |
| Duration @ 1.00mm valve lift | 214° | 216° |
| Timing IVO @ 1.00mm valve lift | 28 BTDC | – |
| Timing IVC @ 1.00mm valve lift | 6 ABDC | – |
| Timing EVO @ 1.00mm valve lift | – | 14 BBDC |

Manufacturer profile information
Checking heights are shown with the duration figures. Net lift is the net valve movement specified by the manufacturer, while cam lift is listed separately. IVO/IVC denote intake valve opening/closing and EVO/EVC exhaust valve opening/closing. BTDC/ATDC mean before/after top dead centre, and BBDC/ABDC before/after bottom dead centre.
Installation and profile selection
Confirm the exact engine version, valvetrain design and the modifications required by the profile. Check cam timing and valve-to-piston clearance during installation. Springs, lifters and other supporting parts mentioned with a profile are not included unless the profile explicitly states that they come with the kit.
Examples of related vehicle applications
